2009 – August – Beacon Wi-Fi Announces that 75% of their Marina Partners Offer Beacon Wi-Fi FREE Service to their Joint Customers

When Beacon Wi-Fi announced their Beacon Wi-Fi FREE service in May 2008, the goal was to add many new marinas to the FREE system and convert a large percentage of their existing marina partners.  The wave has continued and US boaters have voiced their opinion – They Want FREE Wi-Fi at their Marina!  Now, does this mean that they want an open wireless router plugged into the marina’s cable line at the office?  No it does not.  In cabin coverage, high-levels of security (not WPA or WEP keys), 7 day/week tech support, free roaming at 200 marinas and username/password controls to control bandwidth for the maintenance of high-speed throughput are what they want – period.

Beacon Wi-Fi hopes to have all marinas on the Beacon Wi-Fi Network converted to Beacon Wi-Fi FREE for the 2010 season, to continue the movement and give all boaters free access to fast, safe, secure and robust wireless internet service at their marinas.
